Events will be held across Wales to update farmers and foresters on tree health and the practical and health and safety implications when tackling diseased or damaged trees on farm.

Gethin Hughes from MWMAC will discuss what training and equipment is required, lone working guidelines and aspects to consider when working with equipment such as tree shears and winches to deal with diseased or damaged trees.

Well known farm safety expert and instructor Brian Rees will also be discussing on-farm health and safety considerations, including working with non-integrated work platforms and telehandlers for tree work.

Dafydd Owen, Farming Connect Forestry Technical Officer said:

“It’s important to carry out the task of extracting windblown, dead or diseased trees as safely as possible. Farmers will often carry out these tasks alone without contemplating the possible implications.”

“Events will be held across Wales, and refreshments are available, so be sure to book a place!”

Events will be held throughout March in Llanrwst, Llandeilo and Caersws. To book your place, contact Dafydd Owen on dafydd.owen@menterabusnes.co.uk or click here.
