I have always wanted to run my own business but was never sure what to specialise in.

After a philosophy degree and a couple of years in sales and marketing I realised that my real passion and talent was empowering young people to positively influence their own future.

The first year teaches you so much about what your audience and potential clients need, who they are and what they say. It gives you insight into what you and your business are really about and where you are going.

Striking the balance between your vision and what the market wants is key.

I love being in control of my own time. Much of the time being your own boss actually means that you work longer hours and more days than if you worked for someone else. What is important is that my business gives me the freedom, income, satisfaction and enjoyment that I had initially hoped for.

The whole process is a learning process and you learn more from the things that you get wrong than things that you get right.

People want to buy from great people so if you can work out what makes you great, that makes your business so much more attractive. I love sharing the energy and enthusiasm that I have for enterprise, for businesses and for learning.

I have made a living out of helping people to develop so if I can encourage other people to take a leap too then that’s fantastic.
