An experienced MOT tester and mechanic, Hayley has been working within the automotive aftermarket at Avia Sports Cars Ltd since 2006. As director, the main area of responsibility is the management of the workshop, including HR and compliance. In January, 2018 this role expanded to include professional writing and consultancy on a freelance basis for other organisations. Hayley is regularly published in leading industry magazines commenting on legislative change and new technology. Most of her published works are with Haymarket, a privately held media company headquartered in London and is the resident motor industry expert for the Gem Newspaper, part of the Tindle group. 

 

Hayley has been operating at her workshop in Bridgend, since leaving the military. Her inspirational leadership technique has led her to enjoy national recognition and awards for her training style both for formal apprenticeships and continuous professional development for qualified staff. Hayley's "lift as you climb" philosophy has translated into a coveted work environment, training opportunities within the business are well regarded, producing top level technicians with an enviable level of technical experience.

An experienced speaker, Hayley regularly represents the automotive aftermarket for a variety of organisations, most notably the IAAF, ITV Wales and the BBC. This work has gained formal industry recognition, earning the Chwarae Teg Exemplar Employer Award, accreditation from the Motor Ombudsman, Swansea Gower College Apprentice Employer of the Year and the UK Automechanika Garage of the Year Award. 

 

 

 

Hayley has worked with the Chartered Institute of Trading Standards providing case studies for their media campaign strategy.

 

Hayley also holds accreditation from the Retail Motor Industry's Independent Garage Association, the UK's largest and most prominent representative body for the sector. 

Hayley’s previous career as an Air Cartographer for the Royal Air Force included the additional duties of close protection for deployed critical assets in hostile environments, ceremonial duties for visiting Heads of State and Royalty and public relations work as the Chief Falconer for the Bird of Prey Display Team. Hayley holds the NATO Award for Kosovo and a GSM for Iraq.
