I've been working as a professional freelance illustrator since late 2013 when I became a regular contributing cartoonist to online teen magazine gurl.com. I specialise in comics and illustration and work mainly on projects that have educational or socially engaged content. I also run arts workshops for children, teenagers and adults. I love being able to incorporate creative tasks into my work for Big Ideas Wales.
After graduating from Glyndwr University in 2012, like a lot of graduates I struggled to find the fabled 'proper job'. Initially I split my time between further study and part-time volunteering and non-arts work on temporary contracts. it was a very precarious time and I was always skint and miserable. Making the decision to go self-employed was not an overnight fix. Things were still precarious and I was still skint. But I was a lot less miserable!
Today, I've been able to build a stable, sustainable life for myself doing something that I'm extremely passionate about. That's a rare and beautiful thing that I am very proud of!
My favourite cheesy inspirational quote is ''Don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle'' You should never let other people's achievements make you feel inadequate!''
