Why are you an effective Advisor?
- An experienced farm consultant and farm manager who has excellent technical knowledge of the beef and sheep industry. I am practically minded and can implement new ideas and systems on farm to allow businesses to become profitable and sustainable.
- I have developed exceptional grassland, forage and out wintering expertise through on farm research projects, study trips to New Zealand and working with Farming Connect and AHDB to develop there monitor and strategic demonstration farms.
- I have worked with several hundred farmers to take soil samples and manure samples to develop nutrient and manure management plans for their farms.
- I have excellent communication skills developed through the hosting of on farm events, evening meetings and online webinars. Over 500 farmers visited his home farm last year where he demonstrated the grazing and wintering systems.
- I specialise in beef and sheep systems from forage and works with farmers particularly to develop outside lambing systems based on rotational grazing and wintering crops. I work closely with farmers in the dairy beef sector where farmers take calves from rearing through to finish. I focus on good grassland management, out wintering if possible and good silage production on housed herds. I also work with farmers taking on cross bred dairy heifers with advice concentrating on grass and forage.
- I manage the family farm to a high standard and have been recognised with multiple industry awards including most recently becoming an associate of the Royal Agricultural Society and British Grassland Society Grassland Farmer of the Year 2021.
