Menna Jones

Welshpool, Powys

Menna Jones is currently studying at NPTC Newtown, where she achieved a distinction in the first year of her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Agriculture. Alongside her studies, she gains valuable hands-on experience both on her family’s sheep and beef farm in Montgomeryshire, with the sheep being her key area of interest.  She previously worked part time at large local poultry enterprise where she was responsible for uploading day-old chicks, monitoring their health, and ensuring feed and water supplies are maintained.

Menna has also worked with local farmers helping with tasks such as feeding and bedding livestock, health checks, shearing, and docking. Once she finishes college, she hopes to travel to New Zealand to broaden her horizons before focusing her career on sheep genetics and quality lamb production. Her long-term ambition is to build her own flock of pedigree Charollais sheep.

An enthusiastic and active member of her local YFC, Menna also contributes to her community through social media and newsletter content for her church.

“The Agri Academy will build my confidence and expand my knowledge of different farming systems.

“I am looking forward to meeting a new network of contacts, mentors and friends that I can turn to for guidance as my career pathway progresses – it’s an amazing opportunity.”
