Ifan Llwyd Owen
Llanrwst, Conwy
Born and raised on a family farm near Llanrwst, Ifan Llwyd Owen has developed an extensive resume working in the agricultural sector since leaving Aberystwyth University in 2013. With a sharp interest in animal health and the dairy industry, Ifan now works for an innovative international company at the forefront of dairy genetics.
When he isn’t traveling around North Wales supporting farmers and their businesses achieve optimum herd and cow quality, Ifan can be found out in the field training sheepdogs or singing as a member of local choral groups.
A singer and a stockman, Ifan’s other main pleasure comes from breeding the family's flock of Bluefaced Leicester sheep, which the family show and sell successfully at breeding sales.
Ultimately, Ifan’s long-term goal is to manage his own farm and he sees this period in his career as a time to nurture and develop transferable skills which will support his progression in this industry.
Being prudent, Ifan is understanding about the challenges that the industry will have to overcome in the near future and believes that the current generation of young farmers have a big part to play in shaping the opportunities that may come as a result of change.
“I hope the Agri Academy will allow me to develop my understanding of business structures and gain access to mentors to support my learning. I’m looking forward to sharing ideas with entrepreneurs in the industry and develop the confidence to apply this thinking to my own business.”
