What has been done to date?

Lamb performance

Following on from lambing (April, 2024), the ewes did well on the formulated diets with lamb’s 8 week weights recorded at: 
●    Twins- average 8 week weight of 17.71kg with an average DLWG of 0.235g/day.
●    Singles- average 8 week weight of 22.97kg with an average DLWG of 0.324g/day.

Control trial involving dosage of propylene glycol

●    In October, 525 ewes were weighed and BCS (body condition score) recorded. 
●    The group average weight was 56.5kg and an average BCS of 3.2.
●    Every odd number tagged animal was dosed with 25ml of propylene glycol.

Next Steps?

The next step is to review the scanning data for 2025 by ear tag to identify whether administrating the propylene glycol had an effect on lamb numbers and to prepare a pregnant ewe ration.
