With plans to extend Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZ) in Wales currently out to consultation, slurry storage and nutrient management is an important issue for livestock farmers.
Planning slurry systems fit for any future regulations, evaluating the investment needed to upgrade storage and the challenges of slurry and muck management will be the focus of a Farming Connect event at Moor Farm, Walwyn’s Castle, Haverfordwest.
The principles of nutrient management, long-term planning of storage systems and cost effective options will be discussed by Keith Owen and Aled Roberts, of ADAS. They will also outline how NVZ’s could affect regulation and how to take part in the current consultation on NVZ’s in Wales.
The event will include a walk around the farm, which is a Farming Connect Demonstration Site, where the Rees family are considering options to update their slurry system.
