We zoom over to Finland to learn about grass cultivation in this episode with a focus on Timothy grass.

Diverse weather conditions makes grass cultivation a particularly interesting topic in Finland. From icy, freezing winters to hot summers, the cultivation window is short.

We join Ana Ella and Jarkko Storberg who work as a national grassland adviser for ProAgria who share their insight into how Finish farmers manage their grasslands, and why investing in grass production, particularly Timothy grass is an important practice in Finnish agriculture.

Antero Lahteenmaki who runs a dairy farm in Southwestern Finland and specialises in grass production.  Find out more about the broadcast seeding method Antero uses to establish his leys which are renewed every 3-4 years.
