Pant Farm - Undersowing maize

The sowing of the grass seed took place on June 30 into a maize crop which stood about 0.5 metres high. Although the maize stood proud of the drill, the only plant damage was to a few plants where the tractor turned on the headlands.  The grass seed sown was a mixture of Italian and Perennial Rye Grasses.

Germination and establishment of the grass seed was hindered by the dry weather in July and August but monitoring will continue to assess progress after maize harvest.
