This year the Bootcamp will take place from the 3rd - 5th March 2017 at Betws y Coed, North Wales.

The Challenge has been set to search for Wales' next top young entrepreneurs...

  • Aged 16-24 at application
  • Eligible to live and work in the UK
  • Have a clear passion for entrepreneurship
  • The business will be set up in Wales
  • Have either started in business in the last 6 months but not registered with the Revenue and need support to register your business properly and grow OR...
  • Have a clear idea you want to commercialise within 6 months of the Bootcamp.

1. Application 

Submit your application form to register your interest before the closing date, 31st January 2017. 

During the pre-audition selection process we will check eligbility. See if you meet the criteria for the Challenge under Who's it for? 

We will notify you if you have made it through to the audition stage within 2 weeks of submitting an application. 

So remember to keep checking the email address you register with!

Successful candidates will be contacted with the audition details, including date and venue.

2. Auditions

If you are successful we will invite you to the open auditions to pitch your business idea to a panel of entrepreneurs, for a chance to win a place at Bootcamp. 

Tips and all you need to know about the auditions will be emailed to you prior to the pitch date. 

Auditions for Bootcamp 2017 will be held in various locations early this year, with plenty of time to plan and impress with your business pitch. 


3. Bootcamp 

If successful at auditions, you will be invited to attend a 3 day intensive Bootcamp.

This year the Bootcamp will take place from the 3rd - 5th March 2017 at Betws y Coed, North Wales.

The business Bootcamp will be an exhilarating weekend where you can expect to recieve:

  • Tailored workshops, covering the business basics through to developing and advancing skills.
  • Coaching from experienced entrepreneurs, from a variety of start-up backgrounds.
  • Invaluable networking with successful business men and women, along with like-mind young people.
  • The ability to gain access to further business support, to develop your idea or start-up.

4. Boardroom 

After Bootcamp, participants will be required to attend regular boardroom meetings to report on their progress.

Participants will also receive continued support from entrepreneurs.

If you’re ready to go from ‘Bootcamp to Business’, the Big Ideas Wales Challenge will enable you to expand your knowledge and the essential skills needed to be ‘business ready’. 

You will have the chance to grow your connections and meet amazing people that have been there, done it and succeeded! 

You can gain access to the exciting and intensive 3 day business Bootcamp PLUS an additional 12 month package of entrepreneurial support like no other.

During the Bootcamp we will equip you with the business essentials to set up, manage and grow your business - from marketing and finance to business planning and employing people.



You can also expect to meet established entrepreneurs from all walks of life. During the weekend you will have plenty of opportunities to pick their brains, grill them for tips and gain behind-the-scenes insights, which will help get things going for yourself!

And it doesn’t stop there...

For a further 12 months you can keep the momentum going by tapping into further business support on offer to you.

You could recieve entrepreneurial coaching and other practical support from joining our business community, who are committed to helping enterprising young people succeed.



Even if you don’t make it to Bootcamp, you will still receive direct feedback from entrepreneurs on your business and Big Ideas Wales will help you access the business support that you need.  

The new support service for 2016/17 includes one to one support for young entrepreneurs and you can register for this support by calling us on -

We will support and encourage you throughout the first 12 months of your business journey but your ultimate success is down to you! 

All we ask is your energy, enthusiasm, and full commitment to the Challenge and your business. 

If you are successful at the auditions stage, to get the most out of the experience we ask that you commit to:

  • Attending a 3 day residential Bootcamp
  • Completion of a business Development Plan
  • Attending quarterly Boardroom sessions 
  • Keeping a record of how your business idea is developing and the goals you have achieved
  • Monthly one to one coaching sessions
