I came up with the idea for my first business by chance when I was 48. Before then I had worked in the mechanical services industry. I thought that many companies, societies, clubs and other organisations would like to mark a point in history – maybe an anniversary, landmark achievement for example – in some way. At Inner Frame we produce commemorative mementoes to record such events within a frame. They are unique, personal and visually pleasing.
The more you put into your business, the more you will get out of it
Christopher Roberts - Inner Frame
Most of the business is self-taught, though I did read a business manual written in 1936 which showed me that many of the key skills are actually the same.
I now run three other companies, including a social enterprise which raises money for deserving causes but also promotes the idea that businesses need a social conscience.
