I attended a Grammar school sat GCE O Level and passed only Mathematics albeit with distinctions. After finishing school, I went to work in the steel works. I studied and obtained a Higher National Certificate in Production, and Mechanical Engineering on a part time night school basis.

There is a whole world out there, with plenty of information and opportunities for business users. If you want to do it, you will do it! My maxim has always been "If you can do it – I can"

I was made redundant at the age of 44, my career then progressed into senior management level in a company supplying to the Ministry of Defence. I found a niche market and started manufacturing from my garage, supplying small batch sewn products to Military outlets. I developed the business further, opening two production units, employing between 12 and 15 employees, peaking at one time to 25 Employees.

The business initially started with myself only, I then went on to employ another member of staff, then a while later my son joined the business. I started my business in Pyle, and after 2 years I employed 15 people, a few months later that grew to a total of 25 people
