I worked as a primary school teacher before setting up my own business – I just wanted to give self-employment a go and handed in my notice at work without really knowing what I was going to do! I set up Tlws, a jewellery business making sterling silver, costume and glass jewellery, at home. We now have a shop in Abergele and an online website; we also sell at large events and host jewellery parties.

Carefully research the business you want to set up and then go for it – don’t wait for the ‘perfect time’ to start because it never comes!
