I left school at the age of seventeen after my re-sits and became a retail manager at the age of 18. I later entered the telecoms sector where I became a sales rep.
Initially, I was inspired by businessmen like Jack Cohen and Richard Branson. However, when I went into business myself, it was a local businessman called Julian Kiley who inspired me with his words of wisdom, advice and hard work.
I was motivated by the idea of having complete control of my own destiny more than the financial benefits of running your own business.
If DRM’s had been around when I was a teenager I would have entered the self-employed/business owner/manager route a lot sooner!
