I am an architect, by training specialising in creating ‘place’, and advising on the design and development of projects. I prepare studies and strategies for community groups and companies; developing creative projects for the public and for individuals, creating art through creating ‘place’.
Do your homework.
Dream - to set ambitious goals.Huw Meredydd Owen - Huw Meredydd Owen
Using a number of approaches, (conceptual, vicarious and direct) I aim through place-making to ask questions of society in relation to the individual - the negotiation we know as 'community'. I’m intrigued by single cell buildings, raw architectural conditioning, ‘non-places’, anomalies and the things left ‘unspoken’. I’m currently fascinated by poetry/text in art, and in the wind - invisible yet nevertheless real.
I worked with an architectural firm for two years after qualifying as an architect before setting up, with a partner, a in practice in the town of Pwllheli. After 27 years, I decided to branch out alone, and have been working independently rather than a company for a few years now.
I was given advice, once, on how to be successful - “be a guru” - I don’t know about that, but I can see how being confident is important, believing in what you do, in yourself and being more accurate in your ambitions.
