I am Company Director of French Flavour – we specialise in supplying French artisan food and drink.

I originally worked in engineering, and as a union learning organiser, encouraging education in the workplace. In 2003, I took a drastic change of direction and decided to follow my passion, in an area where I had no experience.

For the next 10 years, I continued to work in industry and run the new business alongside this, as I knew that since I was taking a totally different direction, I would have to learn slowly and continuously to be successful.

Now, I am ‘hands-on’ in all aspects of the new business, from sourcing and sales to website design and finance, and we are also now distributing more and more products from British and, in particular, Welsh producers.

Success Factors: I believe that you need to have passion, drive and a great work ethic, to create relationships along the way and to never stop learning or developing.
