Originally from Bristol, I followed my dream of becoming a professional diving instructor and moved to Anglesey to work for a season as an instructor. I didn’t intend to stay in Wales but the natural beauty of Anglesey was a lure that was too good to resist. I have been here for over 30 years and own Anglesey Divers, one of the longest established diving businesses in the UK.
We have had several successes and awards and many highlights including teaching Welsh naturalist and presenter Iolo Williams. There have also been challenges that have tested us such as moving premises and recognising that we needed to diversify in order to stay current in a changing market. This led us to start a second business, Anglesey Maritime Safety Ltd.
As a parent I have always been interested in the opportunities that are available to young people and I became involved with the Big Ideas Wales programme in its earliest form as the Dynamo Project. More than 10 years have passed since then and I am just as passionate now about inspiring young people to take an entrepreneurial view of their future careers.
