I started my property investing career in a two bedroom house in 1997, when I noticed that the properties around me were inexpensive relative to the rents that were being charged. Within two years I had purchased two ‘buy to let’ properties and was effectively able to live for free from the profits.
There is currently a great uncertainty in the property market to due to the economic crisis and banks requiring 25% deposits, and in particular, first time buyers are finding it difficult to raise a deposit to fund a mortgage. Therefore, they are turning to the rental market. There are not enough buyers in the market, and as demand is low, so are the prices and interest rates. With the right guidance and knowledge, there has never been a better time to make money in the property market.
Much of my success is due to the support of an experienced property investor to whom I turned to for advice in not only what to buy, but what not to buy. Over the years I have learnt to work smarter as opposed to harder.
I love having control over my financial position, and being able to make all my own decisions. I have a very positive mentality and am prepared to do anything to reach my goal.
