Agri Advisor is a legal company specialising in advising farm businesses and those in the countryside. We have 3 offices, the main one at Llys y Llan, Pumsaint, as well as one in Mold and one in Hensol, Cardiff. The businesses’ clients come from all over Britain and we are able to offer advice on numerous different fields, from succession planning and wills, to buying and selling assets and handling disputes of all kinds. Most of our staff are Welsh speakers from a rural background.
When I started and was brining up my family I had the particular opportunity and challenge to start the business from scratch. I wanted to work in the legal field and do so from a convenient location in rural Wales.
My enterprising spirit comes from my parents, as they showed me the importance of focus and a hard-working ethos and the opportunities which spring from that to realise ambitions. I had the confidence to take the big step of starting the business after receiving specialist advice on setting up a business.
If I had to list all the problems which can arise in the business world, it would be an endless list; but I look at them in a positive way. Every day brings a new challenge or problem which needs to be resolved, and problem solving if one of the requirements of the solicitor’s job.
I love making decisions about the direction and aim of the business; again by creating an ethos of close collaboration as a team within the business.
My advice would be to spend a fair time thoroughly researching your business idea. Speak to others who have done something similar. Think not just about how to start the business but also how you will ultimately wind it up. Be ready to change your plans and put everything you can to the business at times to ensure success.
