My journey began when my Dad encouraged me to learn engineering and software whilst at school. I took this on to University where I studied Electronic Engineering and then Software Engineering with Maths. Whilst I was at Bangor University, I won a place on a business summer school at Cardiff. Local business people gave me a lift down to Cardiff but they also encouraged everyone on the course to do their best.

My interest in economics, along with the summer schools in Cardiff, persuaded me to start my own business. To start with, I had to take any work going (cash is king), but I got more skillful and more successful, and carved out a space for myself as a sole trader. Later, I teamed up with others to form a limited company which grew to employ 25 people, developing software that was used all over the world.

A few years ago I started a new company, more tightly focused on products.

More recently, I have started a green, social project, looking at ways to create machines that help prevent environmental damage caused by climate change. We're building a machine that will thicken the Arctic ice sheet, by harnessing wind power to pull water from underneath existing ice to the surface, where it will freeze as a new layer. As the MD Technical Architect at GSW Software I’m proud to say that we have extensive consulting experience in web security in recent years, including backup software, document management and online personal security. We confidently provide expert software advice on technical product design and development for a wide range of companies and organisations. (Including business start-ups, blue chip companies and the public sector).

None of the above would have been possible without having flexibility the drive to continuously learn and to be able to make contacts through networking. My journey began when I was in the 6th form, now I can have the chance to give something back and encourage the next generation.
