I attended Newport Technical School and Newport College of Further Education and completed Ordinary and Higher national in Building and Construction in 1965. I worked for Cardiff City Council as Deputy Buildings Manager, and in Gwent as a Works Manager for several years. Following my experience in industry, I now run my own company.

The company was first started in 1984 and the other international companies from 1994. The business is based in South Wales but has independent companies based in the United States, Canada and Australia providing two products.
The main product is Structural reinforcement and anchoring to existing structures. The secondary product is Waterwall – a blast mitigation product used to protect against improvised explosive devices, particularly dirty bombs.
I employ approximately 60 staff and subcontract most of my engineering. I enjoy dragging myself to doing it and the excitement. The hardest thing about being your own boss is maintaining the discipline as you get older.
