I always knew I wanted to work for myself, but wanted to get my qualifications, training and experience in the industry first, to give myself the best possible chance of succeeding. So I went to art college to study a foundation in art and design, followed by a degree in furniture design in London, then went on to work as a product developer for a British furniture manufacturer and retailer. It became obvious to me how wasteful the manufacturing process is and this inspired me to take the waste leather to create luxury leather goods. When I decided to move home to Wales I had my business idea and a plan.
Coterie was founded on strong eco conscious and sustainable ethics, and I’m really happy with how the business has grown. I’ve gone from working a busy 9-5 in London to a happy work/life balance, working from my converted studio at home on the Pembrokeshire coast. The leather I use is lightweight, supple yet strong and full of character.
"Be determined. Listen to advice - but only you know what you’re capable of so trust yourself." Tracy Watkins - Coterie Leather Bags.
