- Why are you an effective Advisor? As a dedicated farm animal veterinary surgeon with over 15 years’ experience in the role, Elaine is passionate about working with farmers to improve animal health, welfare and farm productivity. She enjoys listening to farmers, and working with them to challenge and test ideas and opportunities, with the primary focus of achieving goals bespoke to each client.
- Having completed further training to become a Mobility Mentor, Elaine performs farm visits to conduct lameness risk assessments, putting all the information together to create individual control plans and goals for her farmers.
- Taking time to understand the farmers skill sets and goals to work towards a plan for the future proved beneficial experience when completing the Healthy Feet Plan visits. These visits also allow Elaine to build on existing client relationships, so they can work together more effectively when planning for future developments or improvements on the farm.
- Elaine shows great care and attention to detail when working with her farmers and admits there is always more for everyone to learn. She finds that the opportunities to work more closely with individual farmers are very rewarding, achieving self-development and allowing the sharing of experiences on other farms and enterprises.
