Ben Lewis is coming to the end of his studies at Harper Adams University, and he is also responsible for his late grandfather's farm in West Wales which he hopes to manage on a full-time basis after completing his studies.

Ben is an enthusiastic young farmer who cares deeply about the future of agriculture.

Following his grandfather's passing, Ben took on the responsibility of the farm and the management of a flock of 250 Welsh breeding mules. Reducing labour requirements in order to focus on his studies, Ben reduced the flock size to 60. Now, with graduation approaching, he plans to increase the flock to its original scale.

During his university placement he had the opportunity to work with cattle and was particularly interested in calf rearing. He therefore hopes to incorporate a calf rearing enterprise into the business at home.

He also hopes to build a beef finishing unit that would supply cattle throughout the year and will ultimately improve cash flow and overall business resilience.
