Emma Corfield
Montgomery, Powys
Having completed her A-levels in 2023, Emma is now working alongside her father on the mixed beef, sheep and arable family farm and is managing her own pedigree flock of Dutch spotted sheep, which recently won top prize at Welshpool livestock market.
Emma is a keen member of Berriew YFC club and has represented Montgomoryshire at the Royal Welsh Show. Her proudest moment was securing second place at Crufts with her Norfolk Terrier, Ruby.
Having always been drawn to agriculture, Emma would like to one day run the family farm as an independent female farmer who runs a successful sheep enterprise. She also feels strongly about campaigning for continued support for Welsh farming families and may consider becoming a farm advisor to support people with changing methods and paperwork. First of all though, she has her sights set on travelling to New Zealand and Australia to experience new farming techniques and systems.
Applying for the Agri Academy was a no brainer for Emma, who has a positive attitude towards learning and development. She feels passionate about educating the public on the role of farmers and promoting Welsh produce. The Agri Academy will give her the skills and confidence to pursue these goals.
