Janet Evans
Aberystwyth, Ceredigion
Janet Evans is a pupil at Ysgol Penweddig, Aberystwyth, currently studying for GCSEs and planning to stay on for A levels. A keen learner, she has also completed numerous practical training and e-learning courses through Farming Connect.
Passionate about farming – in particular pig production and cooking, Janet has won a number of awards in both sectors! One of her proudest moments was taking part in the Wales YFC Prime Pork Producer competition at last year’s RWAS Winter Fair, where she was not only overall winner but also awarded the reserve champion rosette for the best single pig.
She has contributed to numerous good causes in her local community and is a keen member of her local YFC, recently winning the YFC Ceredigion award for ‘most active young member’ in the county.
After her A levels, she hopes to travel to New Zealand for work experience relevant to her ultimate ‘dream job’ that will combine her two favourite hobbies!
“In 10-15 years’, I hope to open my own butcher’s shop, together with a hog roast business”.
“I am sure the Agri Academy will contribute hugely to my personal development, and I can’t wait to meet other young people to share my ideas, alongside many experts who will give me the confidence to put my plans for the future into action!”
