Dewi Jones

SOUTH CARMARTHENSHIRE, SWANSEA & GOWER

Dewi Jones has been appointed as the new development officer for South Carmarthenshire, Swansea & Gower.

Brought up in north Ceredigion, Dewi studied agriculture at Aberystwyth University where he graduated with a BSc in agriculture. His four year course included a year out which he spent with Menter a Busnes, working at the Farming Connect Service Centre.

Living at home at his family’s smallholding in Pontrhydfendigaid, Dewi gets plenty of hands-on practical experience and enjoys helping out with the flock of largely Welsh mules and Texel cross which are mainly sold as store lambs in one of the local markets.

Dewi is a longstanding member of Tregaron YFC. He plays rugby for Tregaron RFC and also helps out with stewarding at his local agricultural show.

“Having spent a year in the Service Centre I learned at first hand just how beneficial it is for farmers and foresters to make full use of all that’s available to them through Farming Connect.

“With all services either fully subsidised or funded by up to 80%, I’ll be doing my best to encourage them to access the optimum package of services to help them operate as efficiently as they can across all areas and not miss any opportunities for new or more effective ways of working.”
