Soils, if managed appropriately, can be a major carbon sink (removing greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere). While Welsh soils have rich and stable carbon stocks at present, there are a number of factors and challenges that may lead to soils releasing this carbon, including land use change and global warming.
