Focus Site Project: Vermicomposting
Project Aims:
- To build a viable wormery
- To assess the suitability of fruit and vegetable waste as a food source for the wormery
- To analyse the nutrient value of the resulting vermicompost
- To assess the suitability of vermicompost as an organic manure to meet the nutritional requirements of the crops grown
- A Nutrient Management Plan baseline study will demonstrate best practice in matching soil nutrient requirements to supplement the growing of different fruit and vegetable crops and help determine appropriate compost application rates
