Gwinllan y Dyffryn | Vale Vineyard

Vale Vineyard – Gwinllan y Dyffryn was planted in 2019 when Gwen and Rhys Davies identified a unique microclimate around their home in the Vale of Clwyd. The climatic conditions have proven to be suitable for a unique range of cool climate grape vines. After a steep learning curve into the world of viticulture and wine, five years on, they are proud to produce a range of quality still and sparkling wines which are scooping awards. Visitors are also welcomed to the vineyard on guided tours and wine tasting events. You can follow their story on @valevinesandwines

Llanbenwch Caravan Park

Llanbenwch is a family farm on the A525, about three miles from Ruthin town to Wrexham.  Llanbenwch is the home of Gwion, Sara and their daughters, Eiri, 15, and Lliwen, 13. The caravan park was reopened in April 2019, with the café and the shop following in April 2021.  There is room for 30 caravans/tents on the site which includes facilities and a playground for children and a separate one for dogs! We hold pilates lessons, circuit training and a 5k race on the first Sunday morning of the month. The café and shop are open to the caravan park’s visitors and also to the local community, who now keep us very busy! We are currently busy building the new café which will open in July! (fingers crossed!)

Elaine Rees Jones and family, Fron Bellaf, Pentrefoelas

Fron Bella is a tenanted farm in the uplands of Pentrefoelas, farmed by Gari Bryn Jones. The unit is traditionally a beef and sheep unit, although the business has seen changes with the addition of diversified enterprises, renewables, tourism, and poultry. Gari is married to Elaine, and they have three daughters – Mared, 13, Ela, 11, and Alys, 9. Born in Montgomeryshire on an upland Beef and Sheep unit, Elaine has lived at Fron Bella since 2008 and is a partner with Gari in the business. However, Elaine does not claim to be a farmer; she’s more of a farmer’s supporter! Elaine and two fellow colleagues were the driving force for the Welsh Women in Agriculture event, organising its first event in 2005, when working with Farming Connect. 19 years later, she is welcoming you to join her at Fron Bella, to find out more about the farming system, challenges and changes that the business faces and her role within the business.
