Focus Site Project: Autogenus Vaccinations - Mycoplasma Bovis
Project aims:
- The project aims to increase awareness of Mycoplasma Bovis as a disease which causes four main diseases in cattle; pneumonia, middle ear infections, mastitis and arthritis in any age of cattle.
- Mycoplasma Bovis is mainly controlled through the use of antibiotics. This project will look at how effective an autogenous vaccine which is a custom made/specific to farm vaccine. There is no mass- produced vaccine available for mycoplasma Bovis.
- This project will demonstrate the process needed to be undertaken to create a farm specific vaccine and ensure farmers are aware of other diseases which can be controlled through autogenous vaccinations.
- The project will demonstrate a prevention approach to the disease.
