Richard Lewis

Llandegla, Wrexham

Richard has recently returned to work on the family dairy and sheep farm near Llanfyllin after taking on a variety of industry roles to gain experience, as he eagerly awaits his opportunity to take over the farm business. After graduating from the University of Reading he built up skills and gained practical experience working on an 800-cow dairy unit in New Zealand. This was followed by a variety of roles from working for an agri consultancy business, a herd manager setting up a new dairy unit and developing the Welsh supply chain of Wagyu beef for the Warrendale scheme.

Richard has also set up his own business, Richard Lewis Agri Design which produces detailed farm maps for farm management purposes, building design, new layouts for parlours as well slurry calculations and designing storage infrastructure layouts.

Richard is keen to improve efficiencies across the dairy and sheep systems. He also feels that the location of the farm is perfect for diversification opportunities and is eager to explore opportunities for tourism.

Beyond farming, Richard is a keen singer and is a member of Cantorion Gogledd Cymru and Dyffryn Clwyd choir.

Richard hopes to gain ideas which will aid the farm business as well as his personal venture through the Agri Academy.
