About the Landowner
61-64 years old
Non-Welsh speaker
We started farming just 7 years ago and have built a small herd of pedigree Red Devon cattle. Our focus is on low-input, sustainable farming. We are Farm Assured, Premium Cattle Health Scheme (elite herd) and Pasture for Life certified 100% pasture fed. We are hoping to provide an opportunity for someone to gain/bring experience and increase the livestock on the farm. We sold our own sheep earlier this year, but there is possibility to re-introduce sheep (breeding, or perhaps just finishing stores) to aid the grazing management. In addition to the farm, we operate 2 holiday let cottages on the farm - one may be available to the in-coming partner.
My goals for the next 5 years
- To continue development of the livestock farm business, with strong focus on animal welfare.
- To release time for other pursuits.
- To give an opportunity to a new entrant, or young couple wanting to start farming.
About the farm:

Infrastructure available:
Range of atcost buildings (one used as lambing shed in previous years)

Livestock available:

Ifor Williams livestock trailer (one large, one small)
Accommodation for the Seeker: Yes
The local area: We are about 20 minutes from Goodwick near St.Nicholas. The farm runs to the cliffs near to Pwll Deri, in sight of Strumble Head lighthouse. Haverfordwest is about 40 minutes away.
What type of agreement are you considering? Self-employed contract for services or a Share farming agreement
Key characteristics I would look for in a business partner
We are looking for a like-minded person, or young couple to join us in increasing the farm’s livestock production. Sustainable improvement of grazing management is key to this, so knowledge and experience in this area is helpful. Flexibility, good communication and straight-talking nature are all valuable. A quiet approach to livestock handling.
