Why Glynne would be an effective mentor

  • Welsh-speaker Glynne Jones is a full-time sheep and cattle farmer. He’s also an experienced sheepdog trainer and handler. Glynne is looking forward to mentoring on both sheepdog handling and, as a former livestock buyer, he is also happy to share his expertise on how and when to select livestock and how to find the most appropriate outlet.
  • Glynne currently farms 130 acres between Snowdonia and the North Wales coast.  He keeps around 300 Welsh Mountain and Easycare sheep, 20 beef cattle and a team of working sheepdogs.
  • Glynne sells top quality working sheepdogs and puppies from the best DNA tested bloodlines in the UK, relying mainly on his website and social media channels including Facebook and Instagram.
  • Glynne’s extensive expertise in the world of sheepdog handling begins with selecting young dogs, teaching them skills which ensure they become an integral and valued part of the farm business.  He has many years’ experience and the skills needed to nurture and guide both handlers and dogs to work with both sheep or cattle.
  • Glynne currently works with ISDS (International Sheep Dog Society) registered border collies on a daily basis.  He has the experience and communication skills to help other handlers understand what they need from their dogs.  His goal will be to ensure that you and your dog have a successful and effective working partnership.
  • Glynne’s goal is to ensure that following the mentoring, the new handler will have the confidence to carry out sheepdog tasks on the farm safely and competently and dog will have learned the necessary shepherding skills to make an important contribution.
  • Glynne also has significant experience of selecting livestock suitable for selling on to either livestock markets or processing outlets and offers this as a second mentoring topic.
