SIMPLE steps to make milking more efficient could save you time and money. A Farming Connect Focus Site project at Ffosyficer, Abercych, focusing on issues such as regularly calibrating milking equipment has highlighted possible savings of £30,000 a year.

Join Farming Connect to find out more about speeding up milking time, improving milk flow rates and reducing overmilking. Dairy technology specialist Ian Ohnstad, of The Dairy Group will discuss the importance of milking parlour routines on herd and udder health and the potential to increase the value and volume of milk sold. He will also focus on decreasing somatic cell counts and bactoscans and explore whether washable fabric cloths clean teats better than paper towels and if it’s worth the extra work.
