Farming Connect appoints new development officer for South Ceredigion

Rhiannon Davies is the (recently appointed) Farming Connect development officer for South Ceredigion.

Rhiannon grew up on the family beef and sheep farm in Talgarreg where she helps her parents and brother manage a flock of 850 Welsh and Beulah crosses and 50 Belgian Blue cross and Limousin cross suckler cows. They also have a Rose Veal enterprise where they finish around a 100 Holstein Friesian bulls a year.

Rhiannon graduated with a first class honours degree in business management from the University of South Wales which included a placement year working with the Welsh Government’s business enterprise project, Big Ideas Wales.  Her first job after graduating was as a digital marketing officer for Farming Connect.

Currently chair of Caerwedros YFC, Rhiannon has visited Finland and Norway as part of the movement’s exchange programme, and she’s due to visit Scotland shortly.  In between helping out on the family farm and her new role with Farming Connect, she is an enthusiastic rugby player, playing for Lampeter RFC ladies’ side.

Rhiannon is optimistic that with her background in business management and knowledge of rural communities in Ceredigion, she can make a difference for farmers and foresters in her area.

“I want to ensure that they are aware of just how much support is available through Farming Connect.

“There are so many services and projects which have all been designed to help transform business efficiency and productivity in the most effective and profitable way which in turn will drive the industry in Wales forward.”

Rhiannon will also manage a number of topic-led discussion groups, providing opportunities for farmers to explore new ideas and meet other farmers.
