Are you a fan of all things technical? Do you like to keep up to date with the latest innovations and developments in farming technology? Or do you work with new technologies? If so, the Farming Connect Agri Lab wants to hear from you.

Menter a Busnes has developed this new initiative for Farming Connect which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and Welsh Government. Its first task is to bring together forward-thinking individuals in a forum whose remit will be to identify and consider new technologies and innovations that could benefit Welsh farmers and foresters.

The Agri Lab Forum is currently on the lookout for members with experience or an interest in new technologies who can recognise and review technology and innovative practices. It will be led by Farming Connect Agrisgôp Leader Geraint Hughes, who said:

“We want to hear from people who have an active interest in Welsh farming and forestry and can spot opportunities to harness new technology that will directly benefit farm and forestry businesses.”

“We’re mostly interested in innovations that are close to being commercially viable and could offer farmers and foresters a significant advantage in running their businesses. I expect the Agri Lab to offer an excellent opportunity for members to learn from each other about cutting edge technology.”

Members of the Agri Lab Forum will meet at least twice a year and undertake activities to identify key innovation opportunities and technologies. Farming Connect will support the Agri Lab’s work by sharing information about their findings with the industry and demonstrate innovations in practice through Farming Connect’s new demonstration site network.

Mr Hughes added: “A prominent area will be dedicated at this year’s Royal Welsh Show for the Agri Lab to demonstrate a selection of innovations to the wider farming and forestry public. I’m really looking forward to see what sort of new technology the members will want to showcase and to find out how the industry can expect to benefit.”

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Agri Lab, get in touch with Geraint Hughes by emailing geraint.hughes@agrisgop.cymru. Members of the forum will need to register with Farming Connect.
