During the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, Eirwen Williams, one of the directors at Menter a Busnes, was recognised by CARAS, the Council for Awards of Royal Agricultural Societies throughout the UK. The aim of CARAS is to give recognition to individuals that have made a significant contribution to the agriculture sector and rural industries.

These awards not only focus on practical farming, but also on the development of agricultural services, research, technology, economics, education, farming care, communication and administration.

On being awarded the Associateship of the Royal Agricultural Societies (ARAgS), Eirwen Williams, Director at Menter a Busnes said:

“I am very proud to receive this award from CARAS as the agriculture industry is very close to my heart. I would like to emphasise that I would not have received this award had it not been for the opportunities I have had working for Menter a Busnes.”

Eirwen Williams is a Director at the economic development company, Menter a Busnes, and is responsible for managing over 60 members of staff and around 25 self-employed workers.

In 2011, and then again in 2015, Eirwen secured the tender for Menter a Busnes to deliver the Farming Connect programme across Wales, which provides knowledge transfer and advice to all agricultural sectors and is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government. Some of her greatest achievements include leading on the development of the Agrisgôp programme and establishing the Agri Academy. In 2014, she worked with 29 veterinary practices across north Wales to ensure that TB testing work would remain with local vets.

Eirwen Williams farms with her husband and son on a sheep and beef farm near Aberystwyth. In 2010, they bought Fferm Tanygraig, a former Aberystwyth University Farm. Eirwen and her husband also have a daughter who has just completed her second year at Aberystwyth University.
