Flock review to achieve long term business goals
Glascoed Farm is a 250-acre holding running three flocks consisting of Aberfield cross, Highlander cross, and Welsh ewes, alongside a herd of cattle. Committed to continuous improvement, Glascoed Farm has demonstrably enhanced its operational efficiency over recent years. This has been achieved through a strategic focus on maximising forage utilisation and incorporating multi-species leys into their rotational grazing program. This approach has led to a notable reduction in external inputs while maintaining production levels and reducing the farm's carbon footprint.
Building upon this success, Glascoed Farm is undertaking a comprehensive performance review. This project will provide a detailed analysis of the farm's current performance, identifying areas of strength and opportunities for further optimisation both in terms of efficiency and their carbon footprint. The review will leverage past successes to inform the development of a well-defined action plan, ensuring Glascoed Farm's long-term sustainability and continued prosperity.
The project will also contribute to the Sustainable Land Management outcomes including:
- high animal health and welfare
- resource efficiency
- resilient ecosystems
