Today, due to significant pressures on the agricultural sector to increase food production, to be more environmentally friendly and remain profitable, a wide range of high-tech innovations are being developed.

The development of such technology has accelerated significantly in the last twenty years and is now referred to as information-based management of production systems or precision agriculture, and it is expected to help address the increasing environmental, economic, market and public pressures on agriculture.
