Focus Site Project: Evaluating soil mapping options
Project aims:
- To identify and evaluate four different soil sampling techniques across two fields- one in arable production and one on a grassland field
- To use two Electrical Conductivity (EC) scanning services to create soil map zones
- To analyse subsequent soil sampling test results and compare the zone sampling techniques for variation
- To provide knowledge transfer to other farmers on determining the most cost effective method of providing an accurate picture of soil and nutrient differences across a field
- To demonstrate best practice in nutrient management planning
