Penybont Project Update
The three robots at Penybont farm have been installed and started up the first week of February. Aled Lewis and the team are busy putting the cows through the robots, with cows taking to them well. Grasstec have mapped the farm using GPS and have drawn up three options for setting up the grazing platform for grazing with robots. Options 1 and 2 show an ABC grazing platform, one split into paddocks, the other for split grazing. An ABC system is designed to encourage cows to move through the robot every 8 hours achieving three times a day milking. Option 3 is an AB system designed to encourage twice a day milking with each grazing block being allocated for 12 hours.
Aled and the team must now decide which would be most suitable for the farm.
