Master Herbal is a one-day course that will equip participants with the knowledge needed to successfully establish and manage herbal leys for the benefit of livestock, soil health and the environment and be able to:
Discuss the benefits of herbal leys in terms of soil, environment and animal health, resource conservation, and biodiversity enhancement
- Undertake visual soil health assessments to determine the factors limiting productivity and assess the potential to use diverse species to improve productivity.
- Understand considerations for planning a herbal ley system that is appropriate for your farming operation including establishment
- Understand the benefits of different species including grasses, legumes and herbs.
- Provide grazing management strategies for optimum animal performance and plant longevity
