A2 Certificate of Competency Online

The A2 CofC course is a remote pilot competency certificate intended to assure the safe operations of Unmanned Aircraft ‘close to’ uninvolved persons within the A2 Sub-Category of the Open Category.
The A2 CofC comprises of four online modules, which are:
- A2 CofC Introduction
- Meteorology
- UAS Flight Performance
- Operating Principles
Followed by an online theoretical closed book exam which will be invigilated by a member of the RUAS Training Academy Team remotely, there is no practical flight assessment and no requirement to apply to the CAA.
RUAS requires a signed Self Declaration to declare in writing that the candidate has completed the required self- training to gain a reasonable level of skill and proficiency to operate their UAS. Electronic Flight Logs must also be submitted as evidence.
The candidate is also required to sit the DAMARES (Drone and Model Aircraft Registration Education Scheme) and pass the associated exam via the CAA website, which will provide the individual their Flyer ID. If the student owns their own drone they will also be expected to register as a UAS Operator and pay £10 for an Operator ID.
