*If the student owns their own drone they will also be expected to register as a UAS Operator and pay £10 for an Operator ID.

The GVC is a Remote Pilot Competency Certificate, suitable for VLOS (Visual Line of Sight) operations within the Specific Category. It enables the student to apply for an Operational Authorisation, issued by the CAA, crucial for specific category operations.

Prior to arrival on the course, the student is required to complete the DAMARES (Drone and Model Aircraft Registration Education Scheme) and pass the associated exam via the CAA website, which will provide the individual their Flyer ID. If the student owns their own drone they will also be expected to register as a UAS Operator and pay £10 for an Operator ID.

The GVC comprises of six online pre-learning modules, which are:

  • Human Performance Limitations
  • Meteorology
  • Navigation and Charts
  • UAS General Knowledge
  • Operator Responsibilities
  • Operating Procedures.

Followed by a 1-day face to face theory element in the classroom. At the end of the day there will be a theoretical closed book exam which will be invigilated..Once the theoretical exam has been completed, we will then guide the student through producing their Operations Manual by providing a template and review process. Finally, a practical flight assessment will be conducted to ensure the candidate can demonstrate the required level of skill and understanding needed to operate their UAS in a safe manner.

One Day of Flight Training

Flight Training will provide the student with basic flight training with our CAA approved RUAS Instructors, who will brief the student on the aircraft and its controls and provide the necessary training required based on the individual level of skill and experience, focusing on the basics first.
