I have a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I have worked extensively in the UK and abroad in a variety of business and technical roles. This includes companies such as IBM.

I founded in 2008 amidst the gloom of the dreaded recession, putting to good use a redundancy pay-out from a 9-to-5 role. It was beneficial to work with a supportive mentor from Business Wales, who helped me identify my market early on.

I’ve been freelance since 2013 and run my own business as a Squarespace web designer and trainer under the brand of SQSP Queen (formerly The Wheel Exists). Prior to this I spent six years working for sustainability non-profits, gradually moving towards a more tech-focused role before deciding to set up my own business.

My passion is helping businesses and individuals to flourish.

I have a broad experience of working in public, private and ‘not-for-profit’ sectors including healthcare, tourism, and learning and development. I am a former CEO of a charity working with older people, a former Non-Executive Director of two NHS Trusts, and have worked in one of Europe’s most successful visitor attractions.

My qualifications and training include: B.Sc (Hons) Psychology; completed ILM Level 7 in Coaching / Train the Trainer; completed a number of Business Wales courses.

After 20 years of business/man management experience, from product development, through manufacturing to retail, in the 90’s I moved into the Renewable Industry just as the Wind Energy started to become a real option and sustainable alternative to fossil fuel. 
I learnt to adapt and evolve with the increasing challenges of political uncertainty, complex project developments, technology advances and commercial imperatives, whilst always working within evermore demanding regulation and the diverse customs & practices of different geographic markets.

I was born and grew up in Traeth Coch (Red Wharf Bay), Anglesey and completed my secondary education at Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones in Amlwch.
I left school in 1978 to pursue a career and extend my education in the banking sector, joining Barclays at their Llanrwst branch in May 1978.
Within my first 5 years with Barclays I gained experience across all branch departments, completed my banking exams and became an Associate of the Institute of Bankers (now Financial Services).

I have held senior management positions in a number of manufacturing companies, predominantly in the giftware and fashion accessories industry. For 30 years, I have been actively involved in international trade. Apart from general sales management roles and key accounts, including NPD and managing sales reps, my main focus has been on developing sales overseas. My experience encompasses finding and managing overseas agents and distributors, setting of export budgets and strategy.

I have had a varied career ranging from retail store management to the oil and gas industry with positions including IT Manager, Bank Manager, Senior Project Manager and General Manager. I’ve also been a police officer with North Wales police. I now have a varied and deep skill set which I would never have gained had I been confined to one sector. I love taking complicated problems, breaking them down to their constituent parts and then producing solutions and have a great deal of experience in change management and in implementing changes in a dynamic work environment.
