Tom Cowcher from Llandysul, Ceredigion, will visit Scotland

Tom Cowcher runs a mixed beef, sheep and arable holding in Ceredigion, and he’s keen to work with his son who plans to develop the farm.

Tom wants to visit Scotland to learn how Agroforestry is practised and to learn more about sustainable woodland management. Agroforestry is a new concept which presents exciting benefits.

Tom’s long term focus is on improving land use in relation to forestry and by visiting Scotland, he will see how trees can be a crop with multiple benefits,  to both improve livestock and arable crops.

He will also be keen to learn about ‘non’ wood forest products such as fruit, nuts and honey bees. After completing his exchange, he hopes to use the knowledge gained to improve woodland management on the farm and make better use of all resources.
