Hefin Jones
Hefin Jones was brought up on the family dairy and beef farm in Llanarthne, Carmarthenshire and has always had a keen interest in agricultural issues. Over a number of years he worked on local farms and with agricultural contractors whilst undertaking his studies up to degree level. Following his father’s retirement from farming he took to running the farm, keeping a suckler cow herd and running a heifer rearing enterprise.
Since 2010, Hefin has been self-employed, offering facilitation, translation/interpretation and training services for various sectors and industries, specialising mainly in the provision of simultaneous interpretation.
He has extended his networks over a 20 year period, having been heavily involved, both locally and nationally, with the Young Farmers’ movement, the rural community, and a period working with Mentrau Iaith in west Wales. He is a community councillor and is involved with various voluntary organisations within his locality and further afield. He has a keen interest in modern affairs, especially those that affect rural areas and culture.
Hefin is fluent in Welsh, and a confident and competent public speaker. His interests include sport (especially rugby), reading, music and theatre.
